Your plans are well advanced.
Now you want to connect up to the natural gas distribution network.

Connecting your home to the grid will involve dealing with 3 different sets of people, namely your distributor, your supplier, and your fitter.
The distributor (e.g. GrDF in more than 9,200 municipalities in France) will connect you to the distribution network.
Your fitter will install the equipment in your home and supply a certificate of conformity.

Your supplier, chosen by you, applies for the installation to be put into service and sends you your gas bill. This is the company to contact for queries concerning your bill.

If you are building on a housing estate connected to the natural gas grid

Just contact the property developer, who is obliged to perform all necessary formalities for you.

If you are building a detached home outside a housing estate

Have you chosen your natural gas supplier already ? If so, this supplier could take care of the formalities needed to get you connected.

If you haven’t already chosen, you can carry out the formalities yourself by following this 5-step procedure :

Step 1
Check from the list of communities served (opposite) whether GrDF supplies natural gas to your community.

Step 2
Apply :
By calling your GrDF customer service representative at 09 69 36 35 34.

Step 3
Give you GrDF customer service representative the information about your home needed to prepare a personalised quote. To find out more, webmaster-grdgaz@grdf.fr

Step 4
GrDF will carry out the connection work with your consent. This takes place on the distribution network, i.e. outside your home. You will be kept informed throughout the duration of work.
You can also call your GrDF customer service representative at any time on 09 69 36 35 34.

Step 5
Once the work has been completed, your natural gas supplier will ask for the gas supply to your home to be switched on. Tip : pick your supplier at least 2 weeks before the end of work to be sure of receiving your supplies without delay. NB : your natural gas professional must provide you with a certificate of conformity beforehand : this is imperative before gas can be supplied to your installation.

The energy market is opening up, letting you choose your natural gas supplier

Both the natural gas and the electricity markets are now open to competition for residential customers. That means you are free to buy your natural gas from the supplier of your choice.

Regardless of the supplier you choose, a single network operator distributes the natural gas to your home or premises. In most municipalities, the network operator is GrDF.
